HISTORY OF COMPANY

West Side was started by the Vogt family in the late 1960s for the business of salvaging grain spills at train yards. As the business grew, the company acquired semi tractors and hopper trailers to accommodate customer needs. In the late1970s, the founder's sons took the company reins and now Don Vogt acts as President, C.E.O. and Chairman of the Board. After trucking deregulation in 1980, West Side expanded into additional trucking operations, primarily hauling grain for large grain processing operations. By the late 1980s, the trucking operation had rapidly expanded into the truckload, dry van business. In 1994, West Side Transport was operating approximately 200 trucks and as of January 2008, West Side operated more than 470 trucks and over 1,260 trailers.   By November of 2010, West Side Transport has grown to operating 500 trucks and 2100 trailers.

Throughout the company’s history, providing outstanding service to customers has been our focus. Everyone within the West Side organization realizes that customers have many choices to meet their freight hauling needs. Providing excellent service with extremely high levels of on-time performance provides our customers with value-added benefits and provides West Side with a competitive advantage in a highly fragmented industry. Many of our customers have been with West Side for many years and regularly comment about the quality of our personnel and the consistency of on-time pickups and deliveries.

Our commitment to service is reflected in every aspect of our business. We hire and retain only safe, service-oriented drivers and office personnel, and compensate them at the high end of the industry pay level. We operate late-model, state-of-the-industry semi tractors and trailers to maximize customer and driver satisfaction. Our quality equipment maintenance minimizes equipment related service failures. We invest in proven technologies to maximize paperless transaction processing with customers. We make every business investment decision based on the question, "What would our customers want us to do?”

The West Side organization has been in business for over 40 years, primarily because of our commitment to outstanding customer service. That commitment to provide customers with value added service will provide our business with many more years of helping our customers succeed.
